Observe model traffic
AI Gateway sits between an application and model providers to add observability and operational controls such as caching, rate limits and provider routing. It does not replace application authentication or business validation.
Protect public AI endpoints
WAF, API security, rate limiting and bot controls protect the application surface around an AI feature. The correct controls depend on whether the endpoint is public, customer-authenticated or internal.
Request boundary
The V2 catalogue currently accepts one named AI Gateway request with its core free features. It never enables model-provider billing, Unified Billing credits, Workers AI inference, Vectorize or retrieval products automatically.
Protect workforce use
Zero Trust, Gateway, DLP and SaaS controls address a different problem: employees and agents reaching external AI tools and potentially sharing sensitive information.
